Abstract

A card has a narrow gap between the faces (13) of a main drum (5) and the opposite stationary side walls (11). The gap (14) ensures free rotatability of the main drum (5). A sealing strip (17) is detachably arranged, on a support surface (16) of the opposed side wall (11). The sealing strip (17) extends axially across the gap (14) and overlaps the cylindrical surface (7) of the main drum (5) without contacting it. It extends into close vicinity to a face side edge wire (21) of the drum clothing (8). The sealing strip (17) extends, as seen in the circumferential direction of the main drum (5) over at least the region of the revolving flats (9) and can easily be exchanged manually, e.g. using a press-button system. The sealing strip (17) prevents fibres penetrating into the gap (14) where fibre could accumulate and cause jamming of the main drum (5). The danger of fire ignition caused by friction is avoided in this way. <IMAGE>
