Abstract

A textile press has a diaphragm 12 which seals against the periphery of a vacuum chamber containing a heated static member 4 and applies pressure to an article on evacuation of the chamber. The diaphragm 12 extends beyond the frame limits of the upper moving frame 7, and is tensioned by adjustable devices 10, 11, 25. A vacuum seal 16 may be attached to the diaphragm 12 with adhesive or it may be cast as an integral part of the diaphragm. Alternatively, the seal may be associated with the fixed lower frame 2 and may be in the form of an inflatable tube 29. The diaphragm 12 may be heated by means 26. <IMAGE>
