Abstract
A flame passage 26 extends from the precombustion chamber 14 to the main combustion chamber 13 and is arranged to direct a flame towards a central region of the main combustion chamber, and at least one suction conduit 29 intersects the flame passage between its ends and extends to a peripheral region of the main combustion chamber 13, the flow cross-section area of the flame passage 26 being greater than that of the suction conduit, whereby movement of burning air-fuel mixture through the flame passage aspirates a flow of air-fuel mixture from the main combustion chamber through the suction conduit into the flame passage. <IMAGE>
