Abstract
A device 10 for dosing a flowing fluid with an additive comprises a body 12 closed at one end 14 and open at the other. A plug 16 is fitted in the open end of the body, the plug having a central bore 26 through it. The plug also includes ring seals 32, 34 which cooperate with the cylindrical wall of the body to divide the body into two chambers 28, 36. The first chamber 28 is between the plug and the closed end of the body. The second chamber 36 encircles the plug between two axially spaced sealing rings 32, 34 which encircle the plug. Radial bores 38 place the second chamber in communication with the bore 26 in the plug. A fluid flow path formed by pipe 18 external of the body enters the second chamber 36 and the first chamber 28 is also connected to this flow path. The first chamber 28 receives a collapsible cartridge (not shown) including a nozzle structure which is entered in said bore 26. The nozzle structure includes an outwardly extending deformable rib and the bore is formed with a shoulder with which the rib snap-engages to retain the nozzle structure of the cartridge in the bore. The plug 16 is connected to the open end of the body by a bayonet type fixing 42, 44. Alternative means for connecting the collapsible cartridge to the plug are described. <IMAGE>
