Abstract

An inflatable packer (40) includes a housing (41) and a member (44) secured thereto which is inflatable to fill an annular passage and thus close the passage, for example to enable grouting of the said passage. The packer (40) and method of grouting are particularly useful in the oil well rig art, for grouting the annular passage formed within a tubular rig leg and a pile (20) driven therethrough. The method of grouting includes sealing the annular passage at a first location, injecting gas into the passage to purge it of material, sealing the passage at a second location, venting the sealed passageway and injecting grouting material therein. <IMAGE>
