Abstract

The invention relates to papermaking and is designed to obviate, inter alia, the effect of "two- sidedness" in paper webs. This is achieved by dewatering the stock upwardly and downwardly simultaneously by using a top upwardly dewatering unit 22 in conjunction with traditional downwards drainage, and making the unit adjustable both in vertical and horizontal directions with reference to the stock-carrying wire 10. The top unit includes an upper wire 24 and a suction box 26 with a curved surface. <IMAGE>
