Abstract

A circuit interrupter includes a remote, cooled storage unit 26 supplying liquid SF6 to fill a cylinder 21 attached to an insulating nozzle 13, the moving contact 12, in its closed position 12', serving to valve off the cylinder outlet 19 until the contacts part whereupon liquid SF6 is forced into the arcing zone 23 by piston 22.
