Abstract

A traffic signalling system comprises local units for control of the signals (Sg1-Sg14) at road junctions. These can be selectively controlled by local signal plan generators (Spg) or by a central signal plan generator. The aim of this system is to ensure that switch-over to the local signal plan generator does not occur on each occasion the central signal plan generator is disturbed, but only in the exceptional cases in which this is actually necessary. Thus the invention provides that, with the aid of a fault counter (Z) each consecutive faulty control of the local intersection units by the central signal plan generator is recorded and that the aforementioned switch-over does not occur until a given counter setting has been reached. <IMAGE>
