Abstract

A device for collecting solar energy utilises a fluid flowing through the space (2) inside a container (1). The container has a transparent elliptical-section wall (3) which, together with the fluid, forms a lens which directs solar radiation into a focal region (8). In use, fluid enters the container through inlets (14) adjacent the transparent wall (3) and passes out through an outlet aligned with the focal region (8). The container may be provided with black or silver coloured partitions (11-13). <IMAGE>
