Abstract

A hydromechanical transmission comprises two sets of planetary gears P-1, P-2, a first carrier 42 being connected to a second ring gear 48 and a second carrier 47 being connected to a first ring gear 43. A variable hydrostatic transmission 20 is connected to a first sun gear 40. A clutch brake 60 holds the first carrier 42 against rotation in a first mode of operation. A clutch 63 connects an input shaft 11 to the first carrier 42 in a second mode. A further clutch 65 may be provided for connecting the input to a second sun 45 in a third mode. The hydrostatic transmission may be off-set with respect to or in line with the input shaft. Additional planetaries may be included to vary the performance. <IMAGE>
