Abstract

Formation of oxide on hot-rolled material (4) after the last pair of rolls (1) is prevented or minimised by applying to the hot-rolled material (4) a layer of glass material by means of a coating device (2) located substantially immediately after the pair of rolls (1), the coating device (2) comprising a fluidized bed wherein the glass material is present in a solid powdered state and fluidized by a carrier gas such as air. <IMAGE>
