Abstract
A means for preparing a metal surface for treatment, such as galvanising, after assembly close to another surface, the example shown being a sheet metal lintel of two components 10, 11 secured together at two positions by welding at points indicated at 20, 21, and 22, the components being spaced apart at these positions, by elements such as balls 23 held in tape carriers 26, the material of the tape carrier 26 being soluble, for example in hydrochloric acid pregalvanising cleaning solution. <IMAGE>
