Abstract

A boat propulsion mechanism comprises a drive shaft 28 (main outboard housing 10) coupled by universal joint 26 to drive shaft 14, and coupled by bevel gears 36,38 to the bevel gear 40 of shaft 44, wherein bevel gears 36,38 are fixed between dog clutch parts 46. Sliding clutch parts 48,50 with complementary teeth 52 are connected by forks 56 and displaceable shaft 54. <IMAGE>
