Abstract

A method of packaging medical or surgical sterile items comprises placing an article 5 between two intermediate layers 2, 3 in a group of four impervious layers 1-4 and sealing the four layers in such a manner as to form a sterile interior pouch 2a, 3a permanently fused by weld 6, enclosed by two easily separable exterior layers 1, 4. In the package three transparent layers are used where visibility of the contents is required, the intermediate layers being of polythene, all layers being sealed in one operation. <IMAGE>
