Abstract

199,192. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., and Alexanderson, E. F. W. April 13, 1922. Addition to 178,992. Multiplex signalling; magnetic modulating systems; aerials.-Relates to improvements in the wireless signalling system claimed in the parent Specification, and comprises means for eliminating the detuning effect caused by the mutual capacity between two aerials. Two aerials 1, 2 are supplied at different frequencies by highfrequency current sources 3, 4, the energy to be radiated being controlled by the magnetic amplifiers 8, 9. The primary of an adjustable transformer 12 is connected in series with the aerial 2, and the secondary in series with the amplifier 8, the transformer being adjusted to impress upon the circuit of the amplifier 8 a voltage equal and opposite to that caused by the current produced in the aerial 1 by reason of the mutual capacity. Instead of the inductance 7, the tuning coils 5, 6 may be magnetically coupled. In a modification, the electrostatic coupling between the aerials is completely neutralized by the provision of a variable coupling transformer. Specification 130,064 is referred to.
