Abstract
198,849. Howell, A. G. March 30, 1922. Tobacco pipes.-A cleaner for tobacco pipes, comprising a fluted rod r rotatable in the stem and detachably secured to the mouthpiece, is cast, drawn, or otherwise formed of aluminium or other material and extends across the bowl into an undercut recess f. The rod may be tapered as at t, the chamfered edges engaging slots in the mouthpiece bore, or the rod may be flattened to engage a longitudinal slot in the mouthpiece bore. In further modifications, the squared ends of the rod may frictionally engage tapered shoulders in the bore, or the whole rod may be frictionally held in the mouthpiece. A disc o, slotted to fit slidably upon and to clean the rod, may be of smaller diameter than the spigot socket g, or may be of the same diameter and have indented edges or perforations ; or the disc may be carried separately from the rod.
