Abstract

197,437. Pedley, A. Feb. 21, 1922. Sound magnifying and directing appliances.- A gramophone horn of the curved or returnpassage type, particularly for use in a cabinet, is made in two parts A, B, shown in plan, the inner member A being fixed with its axis not tangential to but within the tangent at an angle a with the axis of the curved member B, so that axiallydirected sound waves strike the bend at a point d. The inner member A has a right-angled bend extending downwards from the tone-arm in a plane at right-angles to the central plane of the bend B. The horn may be of three-ply wood lined with shellac, and may be of rectangular section throughout or of circular cross section at the inner end gradually changing to rectangular section, this change of section baing applied either to the whole horn or to the member A only.
