Abstract
197,432. Rudge-Whitworth, Ltd., and Daniell, J. A. Feb. 18, 1922. Detaching from, and attaching to, permanent hubs.-A bolt has screw-threaded extremities offset relatively to one another so that relative adjustment of the parts retained by the bolt is possible, and, to afford a frictional grip the bolt is tapered to fit correspondingly tapered portions in the parts retained by the bolt. Fig. 1 shows the invention as applied to a detachable vehicle wheel. The bolt k has one end engaging the flange d of the inner hub member b carried on ball-bearings c, offset relatively to the other end engaging a tubular aperture k in the boss g of the detachable wheel. The tapered part k<2> of the bolt fits a similarly tapered part e in the flange d. As shown in Fig. 9, the bolt may be formed with two tapering portions one of which fits a similar portion in each of the parts retained by the bolt. Screwed nuts k<4> are provided for retaining the bolts tightly wedged in position in the apertures e and nuts k<3> hold the wheel structure g in position. Specification 185,190 is referred to
