Rack stands.-A. metallic display rack for boxes, cartons &c. comprises standards 1 fitted with cross-braces 2, and a number of shelves each consisting of a main section 4 and a rear secticn 6 so pivoted together that the section 6 may be secured either at right angles or at an acute angle to the section 4 to serve as a back support for packages of varied dimensions. As shown in Figs. 3 and 4, extensions 8 are riveted to the side arms 7 of each section 6 and are pivoted by bolts 9 to the section 4. The rear ends of the extensions are bevelled at 10 and the bolts 9 take into vertical slots 12, so that the members 6 may be held either at right angles to the sections 4, with the ends of the arms 7 bearing on the main sections, as shown in Fig. 3, or at an acute angle to them, with the forward edges only of the arms 7 bearing on the main sections, as shown in Fig. 4. The extensions 8 may be dispensed with by having the ends of the arms 7 offset and providing them with vertical slots. The shelves are mounted with the sections 4 at an angle by means of bolt openings 14, 15 in the standards and cross-braces respectively, and with the main settings horizontal by means of bolt openings 14, 16. The cross-braces 2 are offset to lie in the plane of the standards, so that an extended rack may be formed by adding the desired number of shelves and standards at either side.
