Abstract

196,542. Riemvis, W. F. Oct. 7, 1922. Ambulances; litters.-To utilize a motor-car for ambulance purposes, a chain frame within which cloth is stretched is suspended by a resilient support on adjustable feet comprising several parts and adapted to be fixed between the seats of the car. The stretcher frame comprises a chain 1 arranged to form a rectangle, each corner ring 2 being connected by a spring 5 and a hook to one of a series of rings on a cross-piece 17. Transverse bows support the cloth on the frame. The cross-pieces 17 are attached to spring steel strips 14 adjustably clamped to slotted steel strips 12, the ends of which are threaded on to the tops of rods 11 supported on adjustable pins passing through one of a series of holes in pipes .9. The pipes 9 are passed over the ends of feet uprights clamped to the seats, the feet 6 being fixed to the floor. The parts before assembly are stowed under the seats. The stretcher frame may serve as a litter.
