Abstract

196,462. Webb, H. March 29, 1922. Balances; casings and supporting-arrangements. -A base for weighing balances comprises a sheetmetal structure of inverted-trough or hollow-box formation made in one or more pieces by stamping or pressing. As shown the walls are, made of two parts 1, 2 united by the seams 3, and the upper edges are turned outwardly to form a flange 5 on which the top-plate 6 rests and is secured by turning its edges round the flange. The beam-supporting bracket is secured to the top .plate by a plate 9 and has a pair of upstanding arms 10 upon which the beam 8 is pivoted and a pair of staggered arms 11 which engage staggered projections 20 on a horizontal stay 19 of the kind described in Specification 25556/13. According to one Provisional Specification, the base comprises a structure formed in one or more pieces by stamping, pressing, drop-forging or anyother like operation.
