Abstract

Addition to 13613/13 Surface treatment with liquid or semi-liquid materials.-Relates to a tar heating and spraying device as described in the parent Specification, wherein the tar tank is steam heated and is fitted to the underside of the boiler of a steam roadroller, and a pump is provided for charging and discharging the tank; and consists in a clutch 5 for throwing the pump 4 into or out of action, which operates automatically when the engine is reversed. The following modifications of the parent invention are also described. On the suction side of the pump 4, mounted on the tank 1, is provided a three-way cock D, which is connected to the tank by a pipe 10 having a regulating valve M, and by a pipe 11 to a tar-supply pipe (not shown). On the delivery side, a threeway cock E communicates with the tank by a pipe 13, and through a pipe 14 and a three-way cock Q, connects with the pipe 15 and spraying nozzles 16, or with a hand-sprayer 18. Each spraying- nozzle 16 is provided with a shut-off cock L. The tar is heated by the admission of steam into the tank, and the condensed steam escapes at thecock J. The pump may be primed with tar at starting by means of the funnel F. By suitably adjusting the cocks D, E, the ta.r may be maintained in circulation while the roller is proceeding to work.
