Abstract
A stabilized mixture of oil and coal, coke, or the like for fuel or other purposes is produced by mixing the oil and coal with lignine matter or humus matter. Goudron, pitch, or other thickening agents may be added. Mineral, tar, animal, or vegetable oils may be used. Suitable lignine substances are lignine acid, its insoluble salts such as those of calcium, magnesium, aluminium, or iron, and the dried waste lye from straw boilers or from the manufacture of wood-pulp. Suitable humus substances are peat, humus coal, brown coal, and humic acid or its barium, magnesium, iron or aluminium salts. The mixture may be effected by stirring, hot or cold, or by grinding the substances together in a ball or roller mill. In an example, alkaline humus lye or the soda lye from wood pulp manufacture is heated with ferric chloride, and the precipitated iron salt filtered off and partially dried by heat. 10 kilos. of this are ground with 120 kilos. of mineral fuel or tar oil, and the mixture ground with 90 kilos. of hard coal until it will pass through a sieve having 200 apertures per sq. cm. Specification 191,201 is referred to.
