Abstract
194,318. Weissmann, G. March 4, 1922, [Convention date]. Vaporizing by heat.-In an incandescent electric lamp, the lamp structure carries an absorbent material impregnated with a liquid which is volatilized by the heat of the lamp to give out perfuming, purifying, or disinfecting vapours. The bulb may have one or more recesses b containing a paste c of talc or other absorbent material mixed with a perfume essence. The paste may be replaced by a filling of cotton wool, asbestos, or plaster of paris upon which the perfuming or disinfecting liquid is poured. A pervious or perforated protective surface d may be stuck to the bulb. Gas-filled or other high-power lamps may have the liquid contained in the plaster filling of their caps, in which case the cap may be formed with perforations to allow the liquid to be poured into the plaster and the vapour to emerge.
