Abstract

Solidifying and then removing films.- Cream is delivered on to the surface of a revolving horizontal freezing-drum A through the adjustable outlet G of a hopper B carried by spring-supported pivots C. As the contents of the hopper become less the springs lift the pivots, thus maintaining a uniform rate of flow. The brackets D carrying the hopper supports are vertically adjustable. The frozen cream is stripped from the drum by a. flexible knife J fitting into a groove. K in a pivoted holder H and secured by screws N, the knife being reversible in its holder. The holder is moved by a handle M to press the knife against the drum, a spring P lifting the knife when the handle is released.
