Abstract

193,596. Barradell, L. Dec. 31, 1921. Magnetic separators.-A separator for removing magnetic material from grain and like material ccmprises a rotating series of buckets A into which the untreated material is supplied from a hopper F, fork-like members B, adapted to be magnetized during a part of a revolution by electromagnets C, being provided over the mouth of each bucket so as to retain the magnetic material while the grain &c. is being discharged at G. Current is conveyed to the energizing coils of the magnets through a casting D<1> on the bucket shaft and a stationary contact strip D, each coil being provided with a roller or brushadapted to contact with the strip D, the arrangement being such that contact is broken and the magnetic material adhering to the forks is thereby discharged as each bucket passes over the port H. A lamp may be provided in the electric circuit for indicating when the device is operative, The drive comprises worm gearing and a clutch K.
