Fourdrinier paper machines.-In arrangements for changing the wire cloth of a Fourdrinier paper machine, wherein the table, including the breast roll, table rolls, and the end roll 160, Fig. 15, is moved sideways on channel tracks or beams mounted on posts 2, 3, 4, Fig. 2, the pond 60 is detached from the stuff box 61 and, with the front deckle wheel 8, is raised by a crane, a vertical slot in the front plate of the pond being provided for this purpose. Means are provided for securing the pond in raised position relatively to the head box, and means for adjusting laterally the front plate of the pond. The upper couch roll 16 is swung back into the position shown in Fig. 15, and the lower couch roll 15 is lifted by a crane, one bearing block of the lower couch roll being provided with dowel pins fitting in corresponding apertures in its support, the support being pivotally mounted so that it can be swung to one side of its normal position. The wire tightener roll 136, Fig. 8, and its adjusting mechanism, mounted in a frame 148 normally bolted to the pedestal 5, is lifted out of the way of the wire cloth by winding up a flexible connector 152 on the shaft of a hand wheel 156. Pipes 175-180, and 188, 189, Fig. 2, temporarily placed in slots supplied, hold the new wire in position, the portion of the new wire between the pipe 188 and the couch roll 15, being supported by cranes at 192-195. The tracks are raised slightly above the posts or pedestals 2, 3, 4, &c. by cams operated by levers 53. The table is provided with rollers running in the tracks and carrying toothed wheels driven by pinions on a motor-driven shaft 33.
