192,837. Gamble, S. B. Nov. 25, 1921. Addition to 160,034. Joints for bedsteads and other furniture. A clip-fitting is provided with right-angled top or bottom flanges for. supporting angle-iron or wooden side-rails of a bedstead, or with curved flanges supporting tubular side-rails. Provision is also made for carrying end-rails of a bedstead. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the side-rail y is carried by the top flanges of the clip-fitting, while the end-rail a is pivoted to the bracket-fitting b at b' and is provided with a tongue a<2> engaging a strap c on the clip-fitting. Fig. 6 shows the method of attaching the tubular side-rail y to the clip. The end-rails a may pass though an L-slot in the side of the clip, as shown in Fig. 4, a bolt d securing it to the clip and side-rail y, while allowing transverse adjustment of the rail a. Alternatively, the rail a may be secured by a wing-nut to a short length of angle-iron attached to the clip as in Fig. 4. As shown in Fig. 8, the end-rail a is provided with a hook a<5> engaging a strap b<5> on a lug b<4> formed integral with the bracket-fitting b; or it may be riveted to the lug, which is bent to L-section. The lug b<4> may be off-set from the plane of the bracket b. Fig. 11 shows the device used to attach the seat-frame z of a chair to the chair leg x<1>. The back-plate b' of the bracket as in Fig. 2 is omitted, the tongue b being screwed directly to chair. The frame z rests on flanges c<3> on the arms c' of the clip. The arms c<2> may both be bent at an angle to the web of the clip, the tongue of the bracket then being secured to a chamfered edge of the chair leg x<1>.
