Abstract
192,618. Wybrow, S. G. Feb. 17, 1922. Driving-gear; casings.-A centrifugal pump for pumping petrol or other fluids on aircraft &c is driven by a wind motor through a magnetic clutch and has a casing which is sealed except for inlet and outlet ports. The fore end 12 is integral with the cylindrical port 10, Fig. 1, of the casing, the rear end of which is closed by a removable cover 13 with the tubular inlet 15. A tangential outlet 11 is provided. The rotor 16 inside the casing has radial impeller blades 19 and masses of iron or permanent magnets 20 arranged parallel to the axis. A second rotor 22 is mounted outside the casing and carries permanent magnets or electromagnets 28. The rotor 22 is driven by a wind motor and the inner rotor is thus pulled round. The casing has a rearward stream-line extension 29. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the foreend 12 is separate from the cylindrical casing and is clamped between the port 10 and the cover 26. The iron masses or magnets 20, 28 are arranged radially.
