Abstract
192,484. Three Star Accumulators, Ltd., and Grund, F. C. Nov. 2, 1921. Electrodes; separators.-The active material attached to cylindrical positive electrodes is retained by a perforated or reticulated envelope of non- conducting material such as celluloid or vulcanite which is urged into contact with the electrode bv means of an absorbent insulating medium such as glass-wool saturated with electrolyte. In the battery shown in the Figure the positive electrode comprises the helical lead support a and the lead oxide b which is retained by the celluloid envelope c having a closed end d. Glass wool h is packed between the positive and the concentric cylindrical negative electrode f provided with guides to retain litharge or other active material. Lugs m, e protrude through the casing g from the positive and negative electrodes respectively. Alternatively the two lugs may project from the same end of the casing.
