Abstract

192,049. Grandjean, M. Jan. 19, 1922, [Convention date]. Ink-ribbon mechanism.-Relates to a manually reversible feed and a multicolour adjustment foi the ink ribbon of a stenographic machine. Ratchet-wheels 18, 19 on the spools 20, 21 cooperate alternately with pawls 16, 17 pivoted at 12, 13 to plates 5, 6 pivoted at 4 to a carrier 1 which is pivoted at 2 to the framework 3, and is rocked by means of a hand-lever 32 to reverse the feed. The plates are provided with adjustable rollers 24, 25 co-operating alternately with arms 26, 27 on a universal bail operated by the keylevers 30. The plates are drawn into contact with a stop 8 by means of a spring 7, and the pawls are drawn towards adjustable stops 22, 23 by means of springs 14, 15. The hand-lever 32 has a pin 34 engaging a fork 35 on the carrier. The carrier is retained by means of a lever 36 connected to a spring 38 and having notches 39, 40 for engaging a pin 41. Blades 42, 43 on the carrier engage the ratchet-wheels and thereby brake the loose spool. The ink ribbon passes over guide rollers 44 which can be raised to change the colour-strip by means of a hand lever 53 connected by a link 52 to a rocking frame 49 engaging the rollers.
