Abstract

191,981. Greaves, A. J. March 1, 1922. Holders and boards for hand cutting.-A device for facilitating the carving of meat &c. is pneumatically secured to the carving dish and comprises a plate 1 having projections 4 to hold the meat and suction caps 6, preferably of rubber, which are secured to the plate 1 by internallyscrewed blocks 8 and threaded thimbles 7 having recesses 14 into which the cups 6 are forced by headed bolts 10 and screwed sleeves 12. The plate 1 is concave and is provided with a depending rim 2, a central flanged opening 3, and perforations 5 formed by punching up the projections 4. In a modification, the plate 1 is provided with stiffening-ribs, and depending arms, to which the cups 6 are attached, are cut away and punched down from the plate 14 and are provided with stiffening flanges. The cups are attached bv headed bolts and screwed members which grip the depending arms. Cup washers, having recesses into which the cups 6 are pressed, and indiarubber spacing-washers are provided. In a further modification the headed bolts are not screwed, but are provided with a recess into which a slotted, locking-washer is slipped. The plate 1 may be only grooved or serrated.
