Treads.-A baseplate is formed with parallel undercut channels in which are inserted strips of an elastic substance, which are held against longitudinal displacement by detachable side plates d. The nosing has a depending flange a<1>, which receives fixing screws a<2>. The baseplate may be made of cast or bent sheet metal; or it may be flat with the ribs soldered or welded thereto.
