Cord strainers.-Bearings for the worm-wheel and drum upon which the supporting cord of a lawn tennis net is strained are provided in a bracket 1 secured to the post. The bracket, which is provided with ears 4, 5, between which the horizontal drum 11 and worm-wheel 7 are mounted, carries also at least one of the bearings for the worm spindle 2 which is actuated by the handle 12. The other worm-bearing may be provided in an independent fixture 10 on the opposite side of the post. In the construction shown in Fig. 4 both bearings for the worm spindle are carried by the bracket.
