Vulcanizing - moulds; vulcanizing tyres.- Tyres are made by moulding upon a core such as 1 and, in the process of moulding, stretching the sides and edges in a direction away from the tread by pressure applied adjacent to the edges, for example by first approaching the mould 2 and then the mould parts 3 with a motion somewhat radial with reference to the wheel centre. The tyre is then vulcanized, (a) in the mould, (b) exposed, or (c) buried in powdered soapstone, for example, by first removing the parts 2 and either before or after the parts 3 are removed, so that the whole outer surface of the tyre or the tread only is exposed. Specification 12,356/15, [Class 87 (ii), Moulding plastic &c. substances], is referred to.
