Abstract

16,759. Brewtnall, A. W. Nov. 27. Ammunition receptacles. - Relates to cartridge clips of the kind having a straight back and a slotted side down which the thumb is pushed to load the cartridges into a gun. According to the invention, (1) the upper part of the side opposite the slotted one is bent out to form a recess for the thumb, and (2) the front of the clip is provided with a ledge adapted to be pressed by the thumb against the barrel of the gun being loaded. In the form shown, the clip is formed of sheet metal with a straight back A<1>, and the side wall A<2> is grooved in along the line A<x> to retain the rim of the cartridges, while allowing them to fit against each other. Parts a, a, a<1> on the side wall A' and a<4> on the opposite side wall A<3> are bent in to hold the cartridges in the clip. and a strap A' with spring fastener A<5> is also provided. A slot a' is formed down the side A', and a recess a<3> in the upper part of the opposite side wall A<3> . A tongue a<6> at the back serves to locate the clip in the correct position on the rifle, and a ledge a<7> in front is pressed against the gun barrel by the thumb. Spring fingers a<5> are pressed out of the side wall A<3> and serve to attach the clip to a belt.
