Abstract

16,328. Bridge, R., [Williams, H. L.]. Nov. 19. Moulding wheel tyresÀ-A core for the outer casing of a pneumatic tyre comprises a number of sections 1<a> flanged on the inner side, each flange having a neck portion 2 and an enlarged or shouldered portion 3, which is grooved on one side to receive a ring 4, wedge-shaped in section, by which the sections 1<a> are locked together when assembled. The sections are fitted with tongues and grooves 1<b>, and one section tapers outwardly, so that it can be withdrawn radially inwards to collapse the core. The ring 4 is held by frictional contact only and is removed by iuserting a tool through one or more openings 3<x>.
