Disk apparatus; machine cutters, grinding in situ.-In an inseam-trimming machine for boots and shoes a rotary dish-shaped knife 2 is sharpened by a grinding-wheel 112 secured to a shaft 114 mounted in a sleeve 116. The shaft is continuously driven by a belt, while the sleeve is slowly reciprocated to traverse the grinding-wheel across the knife by a lever 120, the lower end of which has a toothed engagement 122 with the sleeve, while the upper end engages a rod 124, which is reciprocated by a cam-groove in a driven gear wheel 78.
