Abstract

15,304. Turner, P. S. Oct. 29. Controllers, brake devices for; with auxiliary switches.-In a control system where the manually-operated controller has a deadman's release and the brakes are controlled by an electro-magnet, an auxiliary switch is employed to out off the current supply to the control circuits of the motors and the brakes, without interfering with the lighting or other accessory circuit. In the arrangement' shown in Fig. 1, the circuit of the brake control coil 9 is completed by a contact 7 in the zero position of the master controller. The auxiliary switch 10 is included in the main control lead 6, and this can be opened by the driver, with the controller in the position O, so that the brakes are inoperative even when the driver releases the handle. The switch 10 must be closed before the motors can be re-started and the deadman's release is then again effective. When the electromagnet 9 is in a separate circuit, two interlocked auxiliary switches are used, one in the motor-control circuit and the other in the circuit of the solenoid 9.
