Abstract

15,102. Neech, J. T. April 3, 1916. Sweeping - machines, scraping - machines. - Relates to machines for Leaping the sweepings left at the side of the road by an ordinary street - sweeping machine, of the kind in which the sweepings are delivered over an inclined scraper mounted in front of a revolving brush. The invention consists in providing the scraper with end plates, and in delivering the sweepings to a tapering box, which, together with the brush and scraper is tilted when a heap is to be formed. Fig. 1 shows a scraper comprising an inclined blade B and end plates.C pivotally mounted on links L, F, which are adjustably connected to a beam J hinged to the rear of a wheeled framework P. The beam J carries at its rear a rotary brush A, and any refuse left behind by the scraper is swept by this brush over the scraper and into a box E hanging from the frame P, the roof of this box having a plate S which can be adjusted towards the brush as this wears. In order to leave the refuse in heaps, the beam J carrying the brush and scraper is raised at intervals by operating a treadle which acts upon the counter-balanced lever Y.
