Abstract

13,864. Booty, S. S. Sept. 29. Night-lights; candles.-A wick-holder for use with night-lights or candles consists of a strip of metal 1, Fig. 3, bent at one end to form a base 2, and at the other end to form a head 3, together with means for supporting the wick 6 between the head and the base. The head 3 becomes heated and assists in melting the wax. The means for supporting the wick may consist of (1) a strip of metal 4, shown in plan in Fig 2, attached by bending and formed with a channel 5 having apertures for the admission of the wax, (2) a lateral extension 13 bent into the form shown in plan in Fig. 4, (3) tongues 16 bent as shown in plan in Fig. 8, or (4) apertures in the upright 1 as shown in Fig. 11. The head 3 may be cup-shaped and provided with slots 22, as shown in Fig. 11. When a candle is fitted with a wick-holder of this kind, it is enclosed in a casing similar to that of a night-light.
