Abstract

Spectacles and eyeglasses.-Relates to means for securing the lenses to the bridges of pince-nez or to the bridges and ear-fittings of spectacles, of the kind in which a block, attached to a frame which embraces the rim of the lens, is secured in a channel lug on the bridge or ear-fitting. According to the invention, the frame b of the lens is divided, and each end is provided with a metal block c. The two blocks are drawn together by a bolt d and are held in a channel lug e by friction. In the construction shown in Fig. 3, the channel lug e has a removable cheek-plate f, which, when the blocks c are in position, is secured in place by screws g passing through the plate f and blocks c and screwing into the other fixed cheek-plate of the lug e. In the form shown in Fig. 7, the blocks c are recessed at one or both sides at h, and the cheek-plate of the lug e is slit to form a tongue i which is pressed inwards to enter the recess.
