Sleepers and parts, arrangements of, and securing rails thereto.-A track suitable for light railways that can be easily laid and taken up is formed of metal sleepers b having one or a pair of slots a at each end adapted to receive clamping-pieces c which grip under the sleeper and over the flange e of the rail. The clamps are used singly at each end of the sleeper, and the sleepers have the clamps set alternately inside and outside the rail, the slots being so placed that a true gauge is maintained without the use of keys. When rails unsuitable for fishplate joints are employed, split keys passing upwards through the sleepers and holes in the flanges of the rails, may be used.
