Portable railways.-A portable track is made of rails without sleepers, the rails being connected by tie-bars and by plain or angle fishplates, which may project into the ground. The tie-bars pass through holes in the web of the rail, and are secured by a nut on each side or otherwise. At curves, the tie-bars are loosely inserted, and the structure is bent as desired, after which the nuts are tightened.
