Abstract
9971. Djandiery, Prince E., and Shapon, S. July 8. Moving - container apparatus.-Grain-drying apparatus comprises a rotary chamber or stirring- device contained in an outer sealed chamber and surrounded by heating-pipes; the rotary chamber is filled and emptied through valves in its sides and in the top and bottom of the outer chamber, which is connected to vacuum-producing means. As shown, the rotary chamber is of a doubly conical or doubly pyramidal form and of reticulated material, and is connected by spokes to a shaft D. The base and cover of the outer vessel are spherical, and the vessel may be lagged. Feed and discharge take place through valves F in the sides of the rotary chamber, and valves h, j in the outer vessel. Heating is effected by pipes M supplied from a boiler, the condensed water passing to an air heater W and condensation tank T. The outer vessel is connected to a condenser P and vacuum apparatus q, water from the condenser passing through a pump s to the tank T. The grain is first warmed and then put under vacuum, and when vapour is condensed in the outer vessel, it is scavenged by warm air.
