9413. Dempster, R. & J., and Beard, G. F. H. June 28. Grates ; ash-pans.-A rotary grate for gasgenerators, of the kind in which the axis of the grate is otherwise than perpendicular to an horizontal plane and the grate is capable of rotation in an horizontal plane, is combined with a water-trough or ash-receptacle in which the axis is otherwise than perpendicular to an horizontal plane, and which is also capable of rotation in an horizontal plane. As shown, the upper part b of the grate is connected to the ash-trough h by walls b<1> arranged perpendicularly to the inclined bottom c of the ash-trough, which rotates in an horizontal plane on ball bearings d and is driven by a worm-wheel c<2>. The inner part b<2> of the grate is arranged within a socket c containing water to form a seal and connected to the pipe g. The pipe g is provided with an extension terminating . within the part b<2> and above the surface of the sealing-water.
