Abstract

9154. Anderson, H. N. June 22, 1914, [Convention date]. Mandrels ; sockets.-The means for chucking small pinions 9, Fig. 1, and ring gears 9, Fig. 6, in gear-rolling machines are provided with driving ribs 6, 7, 13 and are formed to prevent expansion. The pinion 9 is held by two ribbed and tapered sockets 2, 4, with or without a conical ribbed mandrel 1. The ring gears 9, fig. 6 or 8; are held by disks 10, 11, 15 having radial and circumferential ribs 12, 13, Fig. 7. The sockets 2, 4 may be formed with recesses in their outer ends to engage clamping disks such as those shown at 27 in Fig. 10 of Specification 557/11, [Class 83 (iv), Metals, Working]. Specification 18,205/12, [Class 83 (iv), Metals, Working], also is referred to.
