Abstract

9067. Lea, J. E. June 21. Actuating. - A device for regulating the proportional flow of two liquids, on of a liquid and a gas, comprises a valve in one conduit actuated by a cam of special contour moved by a float arranged in a tank provided with a weir and supplied with liquid from the second conduit. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the float d is arranged in a weir tank a and has a spindle e provided with rack teeth g adapted to rotate a pinion h on the cam shaft i. The cam j, which may be of any type, is designed to embody the formulµ of the rates of flow of the primary liquid over the weir end of the secondary liquid through the orifice controlled by the valve, and engages a counterbalanced lever k coupled to the valve q. The outflow from the valve q may pass through a weir tank b, and both tanks may be fitted with suitable recorders x. The valve q may control the flow from a gas-reservoir. A modification is described showing the device applied to controlling the supply of make-up water to cooling-towers.
