6936. Cowey, L. E. May 8. Indicators actuated by floats.-In a floatactuated gauge of the kind in which the movement of the float is less than that of the liquid level, the float A, elongated vertically and provided at its upper end with means for reducing its vertical displacement, is enclosed in a guiding- tube B provided with a small hole b<1> at its lower end to damp the movements of the liquid. The reducing- means may comprise a compression spring E, arranged as shown in Fig. 1, or a tension spring connecting the top of the gauge tube to a vertical rod secured to the float.
