Hot - wire receivers; earpieces. - T h e r m i c telephones a.nd other sound-producing instruments intended to be introduced into the auditory passage are formed with a sound chamber consisting of a round body 5 forming the main portion, and an auxiliary body 7 having the shape of the auditory passage, the two parts together closing the passage so as to prevent the intrusion of extraneous sounds. In the form shown, the part 7 normally covers an opening 6 in the part 5 so as to exclude dust &c., but is moved into the position shown in dotted lines on insertion in the ear. The part 7 is detachably connected to a spring 12 mounted in the part 5 by a. link 14 guided in a slot 9.
